For the past two years, Bridget Van Ginkel of Two Rivers has seen the impact of the economic downturn as host of the eighth grade middle school formal farewell dance at the J.E. Hamilton Community House.
“Some of these kids have never worn a pair of dress pants,” she said. “We had girls borrowing dresses from other girls.Searching for theWholesale 2013 Celebrity Dressesto wear on your big night? The first year was kind of an eye opener.”
Then she read about a company that donated clothes to another area dance. This got her to thinking about what she could do to help kids in the community.
She talked with friends as well as L.B. Clarke Middle School principal Lisa Quisdorf and Two Rivers Parks and Recreation Department director Judy Goodchild before deciding to start the nonprofit Lakeshore Community Closet in July.
The organization provides formal wear to young men and women for dances and proms at a low cost.
“It’s a borrow system and the cost is just the cleaning of the items,” she said. “It’s no surprise with the factories closing down and many parents losing their jobs, that their kids feel prom becomes a burden, which leaves the kids feeling left out.”
So far, she’s collected girl’s dresses and gowns as well as men’s suits, dress shirts, pants, blazers and ties.
“I had posted the details on Facebook and within hours I had articles of clothing show up,” she said.
Among those who saw the post was Lynn Christiansen of Two Rivers, now treasurer of the group.
“I happened to be doing some cleaning of closets at my house. I have two teenage boys and I took some clothes in to Bridget because I thought it was a worthwhile organization,” she said. “I decided to get on board because it was something that could benefit the Lakeshore Area,” she said.

"He got me a heart donut that was pink, my favorite color, and he put the ring in it. And I came home and he showed me the donut and he got down on one knee and he was like 'Will you marry me?' " recalls Ashley Dombrowski.
Ashley was elated to get engaged to JW, her boyfriend of two years. She quickly went and picked out her wedding dress at Bella Vista bridal boutique.
That's because in August of this year, Ashley received a letter from Bella Vista stating the company had made the decision to close the doors of its physical location here in Columbia, but assuring every bride that they would receive their dress as planned. The letter concludes by stating that "If drama is not created, then obviously, drama won't happen."
Ashley's first thoughts went to her parents, who had paid good money for what she thought was the dress of her dreams.
"I felt guilty because I was the one that chose to go there. And I was the one that chose that and I felt like maybe it was my fault." says Ashley.
Thankfully, David's Bridal stepped in to help the brides who had been affected by Bella Vista's sudden closing and who could bring in a receipt showing they had tried to purchase a gown at Bella Vista.

Nancy Gero donned her beautiful white, lacy wedding dress while her fiance, John Jenkins, dressed in a sharp tuxedo, stood at the altar with a minister at his side.
Then, Gero stepped carefully into a canoe, and with about 70 boaters escorting her, paddled her way down the Winnipesaukee River to Tilton Island, where she was helped out of her boat for the wedding ceremony, at which she would become Nancy Jenkins.
One of the boaters kidded her about ruining her wedding dress as she climbed from her boat.
"You didn't think I was going to spill in this dress,Searching for theWholesale 2013 Celebrity Dressesto wear on your big night? did you?" she said laughing. "The best man thought I was going to."

Richard Clancy of Nashua said the wedding was "fitting."
"I wasn't surprised at all when I heard they were doing this," he said. "I knew it would be a different kind of wedding, but I wasn't surprised."
After the wedding, John Jenkins said he is dedicated to paddling and his community of paddling friends, almost to the point of obsession.
"We knew we'd draw this many people because the paddling community is a gigantic family," he said. "You get close to people because you're always looking out for the next guy's safety in their boats. You make a lot of good friends."

Every bride wants a wedding that is unique to her and her groom. Thus, it is no surprise if she chooses to wear Custom Wedding Dresses instead of renting a bridal gown. The wedding dress is one of the most - if not the most - important parts of the event.
While many brides would want to wear custom wedding gown by high-profile designers like Vera Wang or Monique Lhuillier, it is very impossible for many women to buy wedding gowns from them as their gowns are quite expensive. Hence, many women would opt for Cheap Designer Wedding Dresses. Fortunately for these women, there are many designers who design and make custom wedding dresses for a fraction of Wang or Lhuillier prices.
Despite the term, discount wedding dresses are anything but such. Without the exorbitant price tags, these custom wedding gowns still embody the quality, style, and detailing of more expensive gowns. A custom wedding gown is the right option for the bride if she wants to use a unique dress color or fabric. A bride may want to have her own customized wedding dress if she already has a design that may be modified or enhanced by the gown maker.
Another reason a woman wants a custom dress is that maybe she wants something a bit simpler than most ready-to-wear offerings or if she is planning a themed or period wedding and she wants a gown that goes with the event. If a woman wants a custom dress on her big day, she must consult with the dressmaker about six to eight months before the actual -event. The bride-to-be must also have a budget in mind. If the dress is simple, the price would be more affordable. The complicated the design, buy cocktailNew Arrival Sweetheart Sheath Evening dresseswith big discount. the more expensive it is going to be.
A competent dressmaker can try to work within a bride's budget. She may offer the bride style alterations or fabric options that may be necessary to work within a bride-to-be's budget. Custom wedding dresses - while staying true to the bride's specifications - may also be more taxing. The woman may have to undergo multiple fittings in order to fit into the dress for her wedding day.
Custom wedding dresses may not be for every woman planning to get married. For a woman not wanting a custom dress, ready-to-wear dresses can also be great alternatives without the hassle.
So when she tied the knot last year, she spared no detail. She walked down the aisle in a flowing ivory gown with a long veil and lacey bolero jacket. Ten flower-toting bridesmaids and seven groomsmen were in the wedding party. And after the ceremony, 100 guests dined on beef tenderloin, clams casino and a three-tier vanilla cake.
Only a few years ago, it was considered in poor taste for a bride over age 55, particularly if she had been previously married, to do things like wear a fancy wedding gown, rock out to a DJ at the reception or have the groom slip a lacy garter belt off of her leg.Browse through thousands of modest2013 Wholesale Cheap Wedding Dressesto find the right bridal gowns for you. But those days are gone: Older couples no longer are tying the knot in subtle ways.
The trend in part is being driven by a desire to emulate the lavish weddings of celebrities of all ages. But it's also one of the results of a new ''everything goes'' approach that does away with long-held traditions and cookie-cutter ceremonies in favor of doing things like replacing the first husband-and-wife dance with a group reenactment of Michael Jackson's ''Thriller'' video. That's left older couples feeling less self-conscious about shelling out serious cash to party like their younger peers.
''The rules are out the window ... whether it's what you're wearing or the cake you're serving,'' says Darcy Miller, editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings, a wedding magazine. ''Sixty is the new 40 and that is reflected in the wedding.''
In 2011, women ages 55 and over accounted for 5.2 percent and men in that age range made up 7.9 percent of the more than 2.1 million marriages performed in that year in the U.S., according to Bowling Green State University's National Center for Family and Marriage Research, based on analysis of census figures. That's up from 2001 when 2.6 percent of new marriages performed were among women in that age group; for men, it was 6.6 percent.
And those older couples spend more. That's because they're usually empty nesters who don't have the same worries as their younger counterparts: They aren't saving for their first home, for instance, and they aren't burdened by huge student loan debts they must worry about paying off.
As a result, older couples dish out about 10 percent to 15 percent more than the cost of the average wedding, which was $25,buys and sells preloved designerCheap 2013 mother of the bride gowns online,656 last year, down from the pre-recession peak in 2007 of $28,732, according to The Wedding Report.
That's meant big business for companies that cater to brides and grooms-to-be. Zaven Ghanimian, CEO of Simon G. Jewelry, which sells engagement rings and other jewelry to about 900 small stores across the country, says men in their late 50s and older have been investing more on engagement rings. A few years ago, they were spending $1,500 to $2,000; now, they're shelling out $4,000 to $8,000.
And at David's Bridal, the nation's largest bridal chain with 300 locations across the U.S., business from older couples has doubled in the past two years, compared with modest growth for the younger age group, says Brian Beitler, the chain's chief marketing officer. And while older customers represent only 2 to 3 percent of overall sales, the company expects that figure to keep growing.
The trend is so prevalent that David's Bridal is looking at ways to better connect with the older wedding crowd. In fact,The best place to buyWholesale Discount Prom Gowns Onlinefor your big day. its store in Danbury, Conn. recently held a bridal fashion show at a nearby nursing and rehabilitation facility; the event was a hit with the residents, the store says.
''It really sparked something,'' said Jenna McNamara, the assistant store manager at Danbury,Doublting where to buyWholesale Bridesmaid gowns online? Conn., store, which has noticed residents in nearby retirement homes as customers for either weddings or commitment ceremonies. ''We realized this was something huge.''
Terry Hall, fashion director at Kleinfeld's, the New York City bridal salon that has the nation's biggest selection of designer bridal wear under one roof with more than 1,000 designs, also has seen a change in attitude in the last year or so among the older set. He said business from that group has doubled.
Royal, a nursing attendant, was at David's Bridal in the Manhattan borough of New York City with her 41-year-old niece on a recent Friday, trying on white wedding gowns that had small trains. Royal, who says she wants something ''sexy,'' tried everything from off-the-shoulder to strapless designs. Click on their website www.dressestmall.com for more information.
In the age of bridezillas and weddings that cost more than some people’s first cars, a bridal shop unexpectedly shuttering can be a last-minute logistical catastrophe.
So the closing this week of The Bridal Shop, 3223 13th Ave.Browse through thousands of modest2013 Wholesale Cheap Wedding Dressesto find the right bridal gowns for you. S. in Fargo, is causing some heartache for some brides to be.
“I can’t believe this is going on,” said Cathy Powers, a mother of the bride who received a phone call from her bawling daughter Monday night. “The disappointment for my daughter – planning a wedding is no cakewalk. These girls are so stressed out.”
Powers’ daughter is one of the soon-to-be-brides who bought gowns from The Bridal Shop, said owner Gretchen Ingbretson, and whose weddings are weeks away – in Powers’ case, Oct. 11 – with no dress in hand.
Ingbretson said she doesn’t know exactly how many brides still have outstanding orders, but she said she averages a couple of hundred brides per year.
“The August brides are completely taken care of,” Ingbretson said Tuesday as she steamed wedding dresses at the now-closed store, “and we’re working through the volume of September wear dates.”
Ingbretson said the closure was also challenging for her employees, some who have been with the store for 25 years, she said. The business had been open for 60 years before closing this week. Ingbretson bought it from a family member in 2008.
Ingbretson attributed the decision to close to recent shifts in the bridal gown industry to more Internet-based business. The store also does tuxedo rentals and dresses for bridesmaids, flower girls and mothers, but Ingbretson said taking care of brides who have ordered gowns is their first priority.
“We’re very apologetic for the situation, me and all my staff – we’re very sad the situation came to be,” she said.buy cocktailNew Arrival Sweetheart Sheath Evening dresseswith big discount. “We didn’t get into the business to have a situation like this.”
She said they are working to return all the phone calls they’ve received since announcing the store’s closure but admits the timing is not good, since wedding season in the region has recently seen an uptick in the number of September brides. Anyone whose dress has arrived in the store should expect a phone call within the next two days for pickup or delivery, she said.
The nearby Straus Clothing is handling the tuxes for grooms, and David’s Bridal is offering a 40 percent discount to brides and wedding party members in the Fargo area who have been affected by the closure.
Ingbretson said her shop is working with other area retailers to help brides get their dresses before the big day. That’s what happened with Powers, after she contacted LeeAnne’s Bridal in Fargo to see if they could help lay hands on the $1,300 Maggie Sottero dress her daughter had ordered in January but which has yet to be delivered.
There was good news, Powers said, thanks to the LeeAnne’s employee, buys and sells preloved designerCheap 2013 mother of the bride gowns online, who she calls “the most wonderful person in the world, as far as I’m concerned.” The dress was in a warehouse in Utah, awaiting payment. The best place to buyWholesale Discount Prom Gowns Onlinefor your big day. A mailbox is not always just a mailbox; sometimes it is so much more. When my husband and I were first planning our wedding nearly 16 years ago, we transformed a plain white mailbox into a gorgeous centerpiece. “Tlapa” was painted in elegant gold calligraphy to match the bridesmaid dresses, and our new family name was surrounded with brilliant flowers in delicate shades of blue, crimson and violet. The box itself adorned the entry table at our wedding reception and was used to collect gifts and cards.
After our wedding, we proudly displayed that momentous and colorful mailbox at our first home, perched on a white post and surrounded by flowering perennials. For two years it brought a smile to my face each time I drove home into our driveway. Just seeing our hand-painted name surrounded with the loving embrace of those flowers brought back instant memories of our wedding; and truly made me feel home.
One morning, we awoke to discover that it also brought joy to some reckless vagrants who decided to smash it overnight.I could not bring myself to part with the crushed box though, it held too many memories. So we stored it up high in a closet – out of sight and out of mind. With saddened hearts and begrudging effort, we bought our first plastic mailbox, figuring those thick walls would surely be imperishable.
Ten years ago, when we built our new home in Milford, we hauled that heavy plastic box with us. For many years, it stood at the end of our driveway.long and Wholesale Cheap Designer Short Evening Dresses in every length from classic ball. It was a sad reminder of the beautiful painted box that used to be.One fateful day this past winter, it happened again. No malice intended, but a passerby managed to back right into our mailbox while attempting to turn around.
I used the opportunity to digress back in time and make it a mission to find the perfect mailbox. I wanted to incorporate a symbol of our love for Jaiden and recreate that strong sense of home.
We spent several weeks searching the Internet and at every local hardware store. We looked at concrete dolphin boxes, granite posts and wrought iron designs.Find the latest trends in prom and Wholesale Short Homecoming Dresses with a large selection of unique. We purchased and tested two different boxes that were quickly returned, until finally we found the perfect one.
It was a mixture of elegance and sturdy functionality. We matched it with a beautiful cedar post stained to perfectly match the shingles on our roof. For many weeks, I enjoyed our beautiful new mailbox. Most people would not understand how a simple thing like a mailbox could impact your level of happiness. Yet, the reality is that it did bring joy to me, as crazy at that might sound. It was a hot and humid afternoon a few weeks ago that we were rushing to pack up the camper, the kids and the beach toys. We were headed to Old Orchard Beach to meet up with friends for a long weekend of camping.
Our fatal mistake that day was our decision to check the mail before we left. As we were pulling out of our driveway. With our 26-foot camper in tow. Bad idea. The crash sound was like a jolt of lightening. You can purchase Cheap Designer Celebrity gowns Online easily. My heart skipped a beat as I realized what had happened. With sick trepidation, I crept out of the truck and back toward the camper.
It was likely even louder than the constant cock-a-doodle-doodling of our poor,Our wedding 2013 Cheap Designer Bridesmaid Dresses great cheap price, cursed rooster. Little did we know that such a sweet little hen could turn out to be such a gibbering, piercing fowl. If only Henrietta the rooster understood that his shrill cries should only last for one hour of the day instead of 16.As I sat blubbering in the yard, my husband attempted to put Humpty the mailbox back together again, sadly to no avail.
We made the executive decision to remove the mangled mailbox door with the nearly decapitated dragonfly, rather than leave it shattered and dangling by a thin strip of metal. We put a slew of nails into the once sturdy cedar post, which was now literally quivering in the gentle breeze.
Then we climbed back into the truck and sat in silence; each lost in our own thoughts of how a mailbox is not always just a mailbox.I image this weekend we will head off to the hardware store for a journey down deja-vu lane. At least we know exactly what we need this time around.
The next project on our horizon is to find a new home for poor, dejected Henrietta. As much as a beautiful and sentimental mailbox conjures up warm and happy feelings of home, the constant and piercing cockle of a rooster certainly does not.Click on their website www.dressestmall.com/index.php/noble-beaded-a-line-straps-long-prom-evening-dress-446.html for more information.
A class-action lawsuit alleging that online retailer LightInTheBox artificially inflated the value of its shares on the New York Stock Exchange before they plunged on a disappointing revenue outlook is "without merit," the company said, and it promised to "vigorously defend itself".
The plaintiffs in the suit, filed in the US district court for the Southern District of New York, are shareholders who purchased the Beijing company's stock from June 6 to Aug 19, a period that includes the company's June 6 initial public offering, law firm Federman & Sherwood said in a press release. The statement from the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, firm was released Tuesday after the US stock market closed.
The suit alleges "violations of federal securities laws", including "issuing a series of material or false misrepresentations to the market which had the effect of artificially inflating the market price" during the time the shares were purchased, according to the release.
The plantiffs seek to "recover damages on behalf of all" LightInTheBox shareholders who bought stock during the class period", according to the release.
In its response to the suit, issued Wednesday after the market opened, LightInTheBox, which sells customizable wedding dresses to online customers, said the suit's target was "the company and certain senior officers".buys and sells preloved designer Cheap 2013 mother of the bride gowns online,You can find quality Wholesale Cheap Designer Prom Dresses Online and evening gowns.
"The company has reviewed the claims asserted in the complaint and believes they are without merit," the release said. It said LightInTheBox had not yet been served with a copy of the complaint, but would work with the New York-based law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, to "vigorously defend itself in this matter".
Class-action status allows a large number of people with a common interest in a matter to sue as a group.
The suit against LightInTheBox comes nearly three months after its IPO raised $79 million and ended a seven-month drought of new US stock-market listings by Chinese companies. Negative sentiment tied to accounting scandals and fraud allegations involving US-listed Chinese companies, as well as a dispute between Chinese and US regulators, have limited the number of Chinese listings on US exchanges.
After ending its first day at $11.Many fashion styles of 2013 Wholesale Cheap Evening Dressesand gowns.61, it climbed to a high of $23.38 on Aug 14, a 146 percent jump above its IPO price. But on Aug 20, shares tumbled after LightInTheBox gave a weak revenue forecast for the current quarter because of slow sales of wedding and prom dresses.
As of Wednesday's close, the stock had slid to $10.06 and was just 5.9 percent above the IPO price.
In a conference call with analysts following the company's second-quarter earnings release, CEO Alan Guo said LightInTheBox "placed too much emphasis on higher-end (apparel) and not enough focus on lower-end products that traditionally sell very well".
The company forecast third-quarter revenue of $68 million to $70 million, below the $75.8 million predicted by analysts. The CEO said the company expected the wedding and prom dress business to pick up by first-quarter 2014.
At LightInTheBox's IPO, the first by a China-based company in the US since social-gaming operator YY Inc went public in November, Guo rang the NYSE closing bell.
Afterward, when asked whether the company's robust IPO could signal a revival in US-listed Chinese IPOs, he replied: "I can only speak for LightInTheBox. Facing another problem that could have derailed his football career, Texas A&M's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel has evaded serious punishment one more time.Manziel was suspended Wednesday for the first half of the Aggies' season opener against Rice on Saturday for what the school said was an "inadvertent" violation of NCAA rules involving signing autographs.
The quarterback was being investigated for allegedly accepting money for autographs from memorabilia brokers, a violation of NCAA rules that could have led to a much longer suspension. ESPN first reported the allegations against Manziel earlier this month. The latest problem isn't the first time off-the-field trouble has put Manziel's career in jeopardy.
Manziel was arrested last summer after a bar fight near campus and charged with disorderly conduct, possession of a fake ID and failure to identify himself to police. It was an incident that put him in danger of being suspended from school and left him having to earn the starting job in fall camp.
Manziel admitted this June that he failed to identify himself to police following the altercation. As part of a plea deal, other charges against the 20-year-old, including disorderly conduct, were dismissed, and it looked as though Manziel's trouble was behind him before the latest problems came to light.
The news of Manziel's suspension was the talk of Twitter on Wednesday, with many questioning the length of the suspension. Former NFL and MLB star Deion Sanders was incredulous at the brevity of Manziel's suspension, after Dez Bryant was suspended for an entire season while at Oklahoma State after lying about having dinner with Sanders.
The penalty appears to have brought a quick end to an investigation that could have ruined the seventh-ranked Aggies' season. The school issued a statement Wednesday saying it declared the Heisman winner ineligible and that the NCAA agreed to reinstate Manziel after he sits out the first half against the underdog Owls.
"I am proud of the way both Coach Sumlin and Johnny handled this situation, with integrity and honesty," Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp said in the statement. "We all take the Aggie Code of Honor very seriously and there is no evidence that either the university or Johnny violated that code."
According to the statement, Texas A&M and the NCAA "confirmed there is no evidence Manziel received money in exchange for autographs based on currently available information and statements by Manziel."
Conditions for reinstatement include Manziel discussing his actions with teammates and A&M revising how it educates student-athletes about signing autographs.
"Student-athletes are often asked for autographs from fans, but unfortunately, some individuals' sole motivation in seeking an autograph is for resale," said Kevin Lennon, NCAA vice president of academic and membership affairs. "It is important that schools are cognizant and educate student-athletes about situations in which there is a strong likelihood that the autograph seeker plans to resell the items."
Manziel likely will be replaced for the opening half by either junior Matt Joeckel or freshman Kenny Hill. Joeckel has thrown only 11 passes in his college career.

Dat Nguyen, buys and sells preloved designer Cheap 2013 mother of the bride gowns online, an All-America linebacker at Texas A&M in the 1990s and former assistant coach for the Aggies, lamented Manziel's mistakes, but noted what he's done for the program.
"I'm a little bit disappointed with what's going on down there," Nguyen said recently. "Going into the season I thought this would be the year for A&M to win a national championship and this has been a distraction. He made a bad decision and he's just got to move on ... but overall the guy has put A&M back on the map."
Former Texas A&M coach R.C. Slocum, who is now a special adviser to the school's president, has watched Manziel's career with great interest and is looking forward to seeing how he'll follow up his incredible first season.
"This young man has been in a position that no one has ever been in," Slocum said before the suspension was announced. "He's been a freshman and a 20-year-old winner of the Heisman Trophy, and he's done some great things with that and he's had a few things I'm sure he'd like to have a do-over with. And if I were advising him, I might have said, 'That's probably not in your best interests to do that or say that or be there,' but in terms of the upcoming season, I'm as anxious as anybody to see what happens and see what the results are."

More than 1,200 people wearing white descended on Rodeo Drive with tables, chairs and lots of Champagne and cheese Wednesday night during a global flash-mob dinner called Diner en Blanc.
The Beverly Hills street was closed to traffic and instead a giant picnic extended from Wilshire Boulevard to just past Dayton Way. The event, which started in France 25 years ago and has since expanded to dozens of cities around the world, was a year in the making, but the location was revealed to attendees only just before they arrived by bus from several meeting points across Los Angeles.
"This is the location I had my heart set on," said Sandy Safi, director of development of Diner en Blanc International, wearing a white organza sari and sitting on a white sofa near the DJ booth at the intersection of Rodeo and Dayton, the Louis Vuitton store looming in the background. “I couldn’t be more thrilled with it. A big part of the event is always its secret location. I could have just tweeted to meet here, but that would change everything.”
Within minutes of arrival, tables were set up in orderly rows complete with white tablecloths, china, silverware and elaborate centerpieces that included flowers, a glowing Eiffel Tower, topiary and a Barbie diorama. Passersby stopped to gawk at the spectacle: “What is this? A wedding?”
Founder Fran?ois Pasquier, 69, flew in from Paris with his family to take part in the first Los Angeles Diner en Blanc. “Such a chic pique-nique,” he noted of the party, the first of which he held in 1988 with friends who dressed in white so that they could spot each other at the Bois de Boulogne park in Paris.

About an hour and a half into dinner, a dance remix that included the rave version of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” seemed to be everyone's cue to head to the dance floor. By the time the DJ played an amped-up mix of Lady Gaga’s "Alejandro," a conga line had formed.
