Folding cartons are a very common sight in a regular household. A classic example is the cereal box. Let's look back at the origin years of this wonder product. In the 1840s, expensive items such as jewelry got stored in cartons. These cartons were hand-made and they needed strings and tacks to stay in place. Although it is Charles H. Foyle who is popularly known as the inventor of paper cartons, it was the Robert Gair company in 1879 which accidentally mass-produced paper cartons.
After this incident, there was no longer the need to cut these cartons manually, and thus, began the mass production of folding cartons. However, it was not until 1897 that these cartons started getting used in large-scale commercial purposes. As the first attempts were successful, other manufacturers followed soon. And why shouldn't they take this opportunity? After all, the process of packaging was inexpensive, the storage was easy, and each carton was able to become its own advertisement. Moreover, the "throwaway" culture of the USA triggered a need for something which was easily recyclable too. As a result, folding cartons started becoming more and more popular with every passing year.
Wrap-around Cartoning Equipment: These machines help to form the folding carton manufacturer around the products. Although these type of machines have a low production speed, they are still the most preferred choice as they offer a range of customization.
With the fast development of the LED technology, led strip distributor, ribbons or tapes have become one of the most popular LED products available on the market. They did not only replace incandescent ribbons, but some of the fluorescent tubes as well, and definitely gave endless options for advertisements and decoration of bars, hotels, and other public places.they are now available in very bright versions too, allowing users to apply it as task, or in rare cases, even as a main source of lighting. Their application is popular both in home and commercial use, therefore we collected the main characteristics of strip lights consumers need to consider if they want to make the right choice.
Depending on our purposes the following features may help us decide what we have to apply.
Of all the determining factors mentioned above, the most important is probably the type and size of the LED included, both of which determine its brightness or performance. This difference has already been discussed in one of our previous articles on ArticleBase.com: how the performance of different LED technologies (low power, SMD power and high power) ranges, as well as the size of the diodes. Obviously, the more recent the technology of the LED is, and the bigger its size is, the brighter it will be.
Another determining factor of the performance is of course the number of LEDs in the strip within a metre for instance. The higher this number is, the brighter the strip is, though extremely high numbers within a metre often require special technologies, like double width strips - where the LED are placed not just one after the other but in two or three rows next to each other. With strips including a high number of LED always check their arrangement, because LEDs placed too close to each other may emit too much heat and radically shorten the lifespan of the strip.
The colour range of the LED is now endless, since any colour can be created with RGB technique. There are generally two or three shades of white available: bright or cold white - the bluish, really bright version of white, the warm white - which is rather yellowish like the sun, and the natural white - which is a combination of the two in various degrees. The temperature of the white colour is measured in Kelvin, and the higher colour temperatures (from about 5000 K) are the cold, or bluish whites and the lower ones (2700 - 3000 K) are the warmer white colours.
Single colour LEDs are available in almost all colours now, but the RGB LED strips can also emit a large variety of colours. RGB strips need a controller to operate, and decide whether the colour of the strip should be one constant colour, or should change along with setting the pace of change. Special pixel RGB strips are able to change the colour in a row, creating a run-down effect. The variety of colour changes of the RGB strip largely depends on the knowledge of the controller too.
One of the more frequently asked questions from beginners in oil painting is: How do I get Started? To get started in oil painting is relatively easy. There are some basic supplies that you will need and some basic guidelines to follow. This article will discuss how beginners can get started with oil painting. This article will not teach you how to become a good painter however. In fact, no one can make you a good painter. You can only be taught certain things and it is up to you to take what you have learned and apply it.
Many beginners who are new to the oil painting for sale medium, generally have the same questions. So let's cover those questions now so that you can begin your painting journey right away.
The first thing you will need to do is purchase a few supplies. You need not spend a ton of money on expensive Oil paintings for sale. Start with the basics as you are only a beginner right now. The goal at this point is to get used to working with your support, brushes, paints and other materials. So expensive supplies will be wasted during this stage.
You are going to need a support to paint on. There are a number of different supports that can handle oil paint, but for now, start with canvas. Many beginners often ask if a canvas needs any special coating or priming for oil paint. The short answer is yes, but you need not worry about that either. Any local art supply store or online art supply store will have canvases that are already primed and ready to be used.
Next, you are going to need paint. You do not need an expensive brand of paint. That would again be a waste for beginners. There are less expensive, good quality paints on the market that will work beautifully for your painting needs. Here are a few oil paint brands to test out: WINSOR & NEWTON Winton Oil Colours, GRUMBACHER Academy Oils and DALER-ROWNEY Georgian Oil Colours.
For those of you who may be concerned about the potential hazards associated with oil paints, have no fear. Introducing water miscible oil paints! These paints are fantastic. They can be thinned with water as opposed to using dangerous solvents like turpentine. Here are two brands to try out if you are interested: GRUMBACHER Max Water Miscible Oil Colors and WINSOR & NEWTON Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colours.
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni's father sent him for formal schooling, but Michelangelo preferred copying paintings in churches. He later befriended arts and studied with some of the great painter and sculptors of his time. But he thought that he could learn more by copying the masters.
In museums around the world, you can see artists creating copies paintings. In Louvre in Paris, you can see a stream of artists copying their great paintings. Copying masterpieces has been a cornerstone of traditional art education for a long time. In fact, one art course you can take at The New York Academy of Art in New York City, NY, USA consists of students walking a few blocks to The Metropolitan Museum of Art (MMA) and copying paintings. That is the course!
I have done copies of paintings at MMA New York City of Gallery Oil Paintings by Theodore Gericault (French Romantic Painter, 1791-1824) and Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velazquez (Spanish Baroque Era Painter, 1599 - 1660).
Artists at MMA who want to make copies make a request to MMA's Education Department. The Museum allows artists to get exclusive use for a month to one room or gallery in the museum to do a copy of a specific painting. The public still has access, but only one artist is allowed to copy in that gallery. I highly recommend your doing the same.
Museums vary in permitting artists to do copies. In New York City, USA, the MMA does, but the Frick Collection and the Museum of Modern Art do not. Check with your museum.
Are you amazed at all the China Android Smart Phone choices, calling plans, and announcements when it comes to iPhones, Google Phones, Droid Phones, Blackberries, and clones? If so, you can join the club. We've been busy studying these things since they were on the drawing boards, and it's hard to keep up with even spending 2-hours a day studying all the new happenings in the industry and all the reviews out there. In the end however, it is not the branding, marketing, or advertising which will determine the winners and losers in the market rather it's you; the consumer, customer, and user.
Recently, a personal tech guru of the smart phone technology space noted in his weekly column some interesting insights into just how the smart phone market was heating up in 2010. In his article Michael Martin wrote a piece; "A Veritable Army of Androids Coming this Year," as we was discussing how HTC and other companies were going to mass produce Google Nexus One like clones running the Google operating system, all with similar features and a $100s of dollars less than Apples 3GS iPhone of Google's own Nexus One.
Michael Martin noted that we could see at least a 100 (that's right 100, and he even listed the names of these smart phone models in his article) "android phone choices worldwide scheduled to be made available in 2010." Amazing, so here comes the invasion of the Androids, wow - and although things are about to get even more complicated, at least all the prices will be coming down now.
Apple may have found a way to temporarily keep out some of the HTC clones by filing a lawsuit with an international trade and patent organization. It hopes to protect some 20 plus patents that it has for features which run on its touch screen iPhone 3GS model. Hard to say if this will stop HTC in its tracks, most likely not, but if it can just slow them down, it will help US smart phone makers keep the price up long enough to get a decent return on their investment for all the technology and research that has been put into these units.
The Motorola Droid sells at $199 and that is a far-cry cheaper than the Apple 3GS, and if we consider the real prices of technology, we know that they've managed to build laptops now for $100. If a laptop can be built for $100, then obviously this massive competition in the smart phone market will drive the prices down to about what one would pay for a Texas Instrument scientific calculator. Please consider all this.
Residential wind generator are becoming more accessible to a greater number of people than ever before. More people want to know, are they right for me?
There are many things to take into consideration when reviewing wind power, the first being the availability of wind in your area.Once you know if your average wind speed is favorable, the next step is to see if wind power generators are allowed under your zoning. You may need a building permit.
If you have neighbors close by you may want to talk to them about the aspect of a home wind power generator in the neighborhood. Some may be thrilled to see a proactive approach to green power. Others may have concerns about residential wind generators that need to be addressed.
The average wind speed in your area is a good starting point but there are many other variables that will affect the performance of a home wind power generator. The topography of your location greatly affects your wind availability. Even in a high average wind speed area, if you live in a valley or on the lee ward side of a bluff your wind power generators performance will be disappointing.
On the other hand someone in an area of low average wind speed could do quite well with residential wind generators if they are on a hilltop or the windblown side of a bluff or ridge. Some wind powered street lights claim startup speeds as low as four MPH.
The average wind speed in an area can vary greatly through the seasons. At our location in northwestern Illinois, our average wind speed in summer is class 2. In winter when all the crops are harvested and the leaves are off the trees we often reach class 4. Light wind residential wind generators should do quite well in our area.
Because of all the variables involved, and the expense of the installation, site surveys are required to more accurately assess the capabilities for residential wind generators at a given site. This is the only way to accurately gauge the size of wind power generators needed.

Drum building projects that use drum wraps are my favorite projects to work on. Why? Because the project moves along fast, there's minimal effort for a maximum effect, and you can get really creative with stripes, custom drum wrap designs, color combinations, and more.
Not to mention, drum wraps are very tough. Knocking your kick mixer truck drum roller on the door handle of the club isn't as devastating with a wrap than it is when you have a nice high gloss lacquer. Chips and dents versus light scratches in a wrap? I'll take the scratches!
When I was building for a major custom company, I was wrapping between three to five drum kits a day. So here's some tips.
#1: My favorite option: Design Your Own Drum Set.
You can send custom designs and even your favorite fabric to get laminated. This is honestly the easiest drum building project to assure that the outcome is a 100% unique drum set. If you are a graphic designer, than you have no excuse!
#2: Sand Before Gluing
And you thought you could escape the sand paper! Sand the back of the drum wrap with #320 grit paper before applying your glue. This allows the glue to latch onto something... and helps with creating an unstoppable bond.
#3: Precise Drum Wrap Ordering
A common mistake with first time drum building ordering is NOT being precise enough when ordering your wrap pieces.
When you order, give exact widths and order the length of the drum wrap with a 1.5 " overlap for all drums 16" in diameter and under. Any projects with drums OVER 16" need a full laminate sheet (54"), plus a patch piece.
To figure out your patch piece length... find the circumference of your drum shell, add 3" to it and minus this number by 54. Always round up. For example, an 18" drum would need a 6" patch piece (do the math!!).
#4: Batch Your Drum Wrapping
If you haven't heard me use the drum building term "batching"... it simply means to group all similar drum building activities together.
At one point when I was working for a big custom company, I was wrapping three to five drum kits in one day. That's a lot of measuring, cutting, gluing, rolling, etc.
The solution? Batch all your activities! Whether or not you're building for a company or doing it on a lesser scale... you'll save a ton of time and hassle by batching your work.
For example, glue all the wraps at once. While they are drying, glue all the drum shells. Wrap all the shells, and then use the laminate roller on all the shells. Tape all the overlap seams, and then trim any wrap of the shells, etc.
#5: Use The J-Roller
An often overlooked step in drum building is the post drum wrap treatment. Most drum building gurus have huge laminate press' to rid the drum of air bubbles and to help cement the bond of the wrap.
However, the same effect can be achieved with a hand-held J-Roller. Using a J-Roller around the drums with good pressure helps your drum building project tremendously. It helps avoid wrap warping, bubbling, sound deadening (tone is killed from air bubbles), and more.
#6: Let Them Do the Cuts
Let the suppliers that you order your wrap from cut your stripes. Letting them do the work cuts down the necessary tools in the drum building project and also guarantees that if someone messes up, it's not you and it WILL be replaced.
But if you're deep into some crazy drum building ideas and you want to cut wrap yourself...the straight edge cutting jig gets the job done.
#7: Wrap Your Tom and Snare Drum Hoops
A cool drum building trick is to wrap your wood hoops. You can do it with traditional wood hoops, wood hoops with t-rod holes, and regular triple flanged metal hoops (use a different glue like "Gorilla Glue").

The smart phone and especially the Pda phone can be a simple laptop that you can take anywhere. This devicecan take the place of a small laptop keeping you connected via phone and the Internet to all the information you need. Extremely useful for students and in-the-field professionals such as real-estate agents, builders, architects...
Although they are slightly different creatures, the line between a Pda Phone and a Smart Phone is blurring real fast. Smart phones are usually smaller and offer less features than a Pda phone which is more related to a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) or a Handheld PC.
Increasingly, these smart and pda phones come equipped with countless games, MP3, camera, video... all to entertain you. Important on those long plane or car trips with unexpected stop-overs. Also great to keep any complaining off-spring totally enthralled and completely oblivious to their surroundings for hours at a time. Save big on your headache meds by getting a smart phone for little junior or little miss!
Just admit it, we have all been lost at some time in our lives. Now you don't have to be; many of these smart pda phones come with a GPS system to keep you in touch with your location at all times. Become totally grounded with a smart phone!
There has to be something said about style; these smart phones are sleek and stylist. Fashion should not be a reason to buy a high quality chinese phone but sadly it will be a major factor for many who do buy one.
You can expect the "Cool" factor to leap-jump when the iPhone hits the market. The iPhone may do for smart phones what the iPod did for MP3 players. Hey, there is nothing cooler than an Apple anything!
Besides the cool factor, the iPhone will probably revolutionize how we perceive and look at smart phones. It will elevate the smart phone to unheard of heights and place it center stage in our lives.
Most of us will be smart enough to quickly grab one of these techno marvels. How about you? Will you be smart enough to get a smart phone or will you take the opposite route?
While you're making up your mind, just remember you don't have to be an Einstein to appreciate the smart phone. Nor does being a prime candidate for the next Jackass video necessarily rule you out -- everyone can benefit from having a smart phone.
